Foreman is a mod that lets an AI play your own character. You type a job in chat, and it plans the steps and does them through Baritone, telling you what happened as it goes.
Put these in .minecraft/mods and play with the fabric-loader-26.2 profile.
| File | Why |
|---|---|
copperstead-foreman-0.1.0.jar | The mod itself. Ask Ben for the current build. |
baritone-api-fabric-1.19.0.jar | The movement engine. Use the api build from the official v1.19.0 release, not the standalone one, which hides the parts Foreman talks to. |
fabric-api-0.159.0+26.2.jar | Required by every Fabric mod. |
Without Baritone, Foreman still loads, says so, and can only report status and remember facts.
Foreman needs an AI model to think with. It works with anything that speaks the OpenAI chat format: Ollama, LM Studio, LiteLLM, OpenRouter. The settings file is written on first launch at .minecraft/config/foreman/foreman.json.
Your key stays in this file on your PC. It is never sent to any Minecraft server.
Singleplayer, a Realm, or a server. The server sees an ordinary player.
Chat opens with /ai already typed. Rebind it under Controls, Foreman.
/ai get me 16 coal. Each step shows in chat as -> for what it tries and <- for what happened.
Type /ai stop, or hold a movement key for a second.
Plain words work. These are the patterns it knows best.
| Type | What happens |
|---|---|
/ai get me 12 iron ingots | Does the whole chain: checks chests, gets the right pickaxe, mines, builds a furnace, smelts. |
/ai make a chest | Crafts it, gathering anything missing first. It knows recipes even when your recipe book is empty. |
/ai make charcoal | Smelts in a nearby furnace, or places one. |
/ai ask how do I make a bed | Answers without moving. Questions read your world, its built-in guide and the Minecraft Wiki. |
/ai mark this as home | Saves where you stand under that name. |
/ai go home | Walks back, or takes a horse or boat when that is clearly faster. |
/ai go to bed | Walks to your last bed and sleeps if it is night. |
/ai put everything away | Sorts your bag into the storage chests. |
/ai build me a hut | Builds one of its own designs, or a schematic from .minecraft/schematics by name. |
/ai breed the cows | Feeds pairs of animals nearby. |
/ai remember storage chests at 96 63 -70 | Saves a fact for this world. /ai forget storage removes it. |
/ai status | Shows what the AI sees: time to dark, your kit, your bed, threats. |
/ai stop | Stops everything. |
Two minutes before dark it stops outdoor work and goes to bed, or digs in, then reports what is outside at dawn.
Eats when the hunger bar drops, and won't start a long trip hungry.
Puts armour on when something comes near and fights back when hit. It runs only from what it cannot win against.
Keeps facts per world, like where the farm is, so it stops rediscovering them.
Only lines starting with /ai go to the AI. They are handled on your PC and never reach the server. Everything else you type is normal chat. The AI's replies appear only on your own screen with an [AI] tag, so other players never see them.
Foreman does not come with a model. The easiest free option is Ollama, which runs models on your own computer.
Download it from ollama.com and run the installer.
In a terminal, run ollama pull qwen3:8b. It is about 5 GB.
The example foreman.json is already set for Ollama on the same PC.
You need a graphics card for this to feel quick. With about 8 GB of video memory or more, each step takes seconds. On a laptop without one, a step can take minutes. A paid online model through OpenRouter is the alternative: set its address and key in the file instead.
logs/latest.log on lines starting [foreman]. /ai snap saves a screenshot.
